Happy Father's Day

I just wanted to take a moment to thank some special men in my life......

First of all my father, John. His example in life has led me to become a better person and also enjoy every moment. We laugh a lot in our family and my dad's laugh rings louder than any other and it speaks pure joy. I love you Dad!

And to my brother, Marc, who is celebrating his very first Father's Day today.

I also want to thank my WONDERFUL husband, Jason. Without him my life would be not be complete. We have shared so many moments through our nine years together. We have laughed, cried, and faced challenges together. Our biggest challenge was becoming parents. So on this day I thank Jason for his love and support and most importantly for being a fantastic father to our little girls, Kate Elizabeth and Annika Joy. Thank you for being an example of respect, love and faith. You make a difference in our everyday life and are leaving a legacy of love for our girls to cherish for years to come. I love you!

Farm Girls at Heart....

We enjoyed the sights of the Minnesota Zoo's Family Farm this morning along with a real tractor ride out to the farm. We fed the baby goats and the "big" goats almost ate Kate and Annika's stroller! Those silly goats, they will eat almost anything.

Life's a zoo!

Checking out the new Africa Exhibit at the Minnesota Zoo. Giraffes, zebras and ostriches- oh my!

It's Summer!

Life at the Bakke house couldn't be better these days. What's not to love about summer vacation? My last day of school with students was Friday June 5th. This year was one of my most trying years in 10 years of teaching. So needless to say, I was very glad to wish my "friends" so long and see ya later! My principal has already promised me a much better year starting next fall. Thank goodness!!!

Life is good during the summer....Kate and Annika love staying at home and making pancakes or waffles every morning. And I enjoy relaxing and sipping on a good cup of coffee while the three of us tend to my flower gardens. We have had a mixture of sun and rain the past two weeks, so there have been many occasions when we dig out the tunnels and inside tents and make forts. Lately the girls have been fascinated by digging out their old baby toys and pretending they are the mommy with their baby dolls. Of course the sprinkler is a favorite past time when the sun decides to shine, as well as their swing set. We have also become expert garage-salers, finding some really great deals on "new" stuff. We have found lots of dress-up clothes and even a train table, which Kate LOVES! When she grows up she wants to be a choo-choo train. Nice!

Our summers are always full of traveling and visits with family and this summer is no different. Last weekend my brother Marc, his wife Tina and their son, Andrew came and stayed with us. The girls love their little cousin. They would give him sweet little kisses on his head ever so gently and bring him baby toys or help change his diaper. Having a one month old in the house again sure brought back a lot of memories. I can't even think what life would be like if we had another little Bakke around here. CRAZY! God's plan for us- two little girls named Kate and Annika- is just perfect!

This week we are heading up north to Two Harbors to see my parents as well as Marc, Tina and Andrew. The girls can't wait to sit by the "big water" aka Lake Superior and get their feet wet, throw rocks, climb rocks, sort rocks, collect rocks....you get the idea. Then the following week Jason will be in Texas for a week long administrative conference called AVID. When he comes home he is planning on taking the girls back to Grandma Great and Grandma Bakke's farm in Avoca, MN for the Goedtke Family Reunion. The family is having a committal service for Jason's Great Aunt Marion, who passed away from cancer this past February. I will be staying home with Ginger puppy and singing on praise team at church that weekend, otherwise I would be joining them at the farm.

Our traveling adventures continue over the Fourth of July. Jason will be in Milwaukee with his brother Chad and our sister-in-law Jenny for Summerfest and I will be up north in Two Harbors again with the girls and Ginger. We hope to squeeze in some family camping trips during the month of July in between my trip to Washington D.C. and our family trip to the cabin on Agate Lake. This is what I love about summer....the freedom to go anywhere whenever we want and it's all about rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. I hope that God blesses you and your loved ones with some peace and rest this summer.

Here is a look at some of our adventures so far this summer.....keep checking back- there will be more pictures to come.

Thank you for your prayers!

I just wanted to update everyone on little Sabrina. She is doing GREAT! All of the scans came back negative for any other tumors and the doctors were able to remove ALL of the tumor behind her heart. She is recovering nicely, but will remain in the hospital for quite a while. Thank you everyone for keeping Megan, Jim and little Sabrina in your prayers. God is good!!!

Prayers for Sabrina continued.....

This morning we found out that little Sabrina has a condition called neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. Please pray for her as she undergoes procedures to remove the tumor in her chest, as well as for her mom and dad, Megan and Jim. Prayers for peace, rest, recovery and strength.
